Using your phone in the toilet increases the risk of hemorrhoids.

US scientists have revealed that using a smartphone on the toilet increases the risk of hemorrhoids by causing people to sit for extended periods. A study of 125 adults at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston found that 66% of participants used their phones on the toilet. These individuals had a 46% higher risk of developing hemorrhoids. The researchers emphasized that the time spent on the toilet should not exceed five minutes. Hemorrhoids lead to millions of health visits annually, and smartphone use has been cited as a risk factor. The research was published in the journal Plos One.
