Horrific claim after fake e-signature: They exploded the pool of e-signature passwords at BTK!

Horrific claim after fake e-signature: They exploded the pool of e-signature passwords at BTK!

Following the incident of a gang that copied the electronic signatures of the managers of their institutions and prepared fake diplomas and driver's licenses, another claim "this is too little" has come to the fore.

Journalist Tolga Şardan wrote that the data pool at BTK, where the passwords of all e-signature users across the country were stored, was exploded, and that the perpetrator(s) have not yet been determined.

In his article, Şardan explained that the incident occurred last week and that passwords belonging to electronic signature holders who used e-signatures throughout the country were stolen:

Now, a new incident broke out in BTK last week.

Whether you call it a scandal, incompetence, or a tragedy is up to you.

The data pool in which the passwords of all e-signature users across the country were stored at BTK was exploded.

The perpetrator(s) have not yet been determined. It's been reported that an administrative investigation has been launched by the Information and Communication Technologies Authority (BTK) regarding the incident. There have been reports of a serious atmosphere of panic within the institution for several days.

The fact that the information in the data pool has been obtained by others means that the passwords of electronic signature holders who use e-signatures throughout the country have been stolen!

The development you are reading about is unfortunately far beyond the findings of the investigation conducted by the prosecutor's office.

Whoever has obtained the e-signature passwords, let me warn you that very difficult days await electronic signature users.

Now, any user who attaches a device to their computer and performs transactions with their electronic signature is not safe.

In the meantime, let me explain how e-signatures work with a quick side note: e-signatures contain a personalized digital code, generated by the Information and Communication Technologies Authority (BTK), consisting of a long series of numbers and letters. This code also serves as the password for the e-signature.

The user with an e-signature can use his electronic signature with the help of the password on the USB that he plugs into his computer whenever he wants to make a transaction.

It was certainly possible to prevent the BTK's data pool from being detonated. It's worth noting that the system needed investment to "defend and prevent external intervention." When that investment wasn't made, the scandal was afoot.

BTK management had managed to avoid the situation that was the subject of a judicial investigation and trial at the prosecutor's office, but we will see how the problem will be overcome now.

Interesting developments occur in the police force almost every day.

Following the scandal involving a photo without Atatürk , shared on the General Directorate of Security's corporate social media account to commemorate August 26, 1922, the day the Great Offensive was launched, Media, Public Relations and Protocol Department Head Güngör Selçuk was dismissed at the beginning of the week.

It was thus revealed that Selçuk, who was brought from Adana and appointed as department head at the “personal discretion” of Security General Director Mahmut Demirtaş, was not qualified for the job.

Selçuk, the high school principal whom Demirtaş had sadly dismissed, returned to his position at the Ministry of National Education.

It's alleged that Demirtaş is upset with Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya over the transfer. Indeed, Demirtaş's absence from Yerlikaya's recent country tours has drawn attention.

A painful example of how efficient the General Director of Security's ability was has entered the history of the police force.

It has been rumored for some time now that a decree will be issued soon that will include provincial police chiefs.

There's a lot of backroom talk, but first and foremost, the General Directorate of Security's High Evaluation Board needs to begin its work. There are those about to retire, those waiting for promotion to the next rank, and those aiming to reach first class and enter the decree.

The Ministry of Interior announced both the district governor's decree and the ranks and appointments for the gendarmerie and coast guard. However, the police department remains silent!

It is known that Minister Yerlikaya is determined to pass the law amendment that will reshape the police force, which he tried to implement at the beginning of the summer before making the appointments in the police force, but put on hold after rising reactions.

Those who should be retired are still collecting pensions. Those waiting for promotions are stagnating. Police suicides are a hot topic. The number of personnel involved in crime is rising. Inspectors are constantly busy compiling files.

Despite this, no steps have been taken to solve the problems, nor has any effort been made to do so.

Who to whom, like dum duma.
