Beykoz Mayor Alaattin Köseler released!

In the case where 26 defendants, 13 of whom are in custody, are being tried on charges of "tender rigging" and "establishing, membership in and aiding an organization to commit a crime," including Beykoz Mayor Alaattin Köseler, the court ruled for the release of all detained defendants.
The defendants appeared before the judges for the third time today at the Istanbul Anatolian 17th High Criminal Court. Thirteen detained defendants, including Alaattin Köseler, several defendants not in custody, and their lawyers were present in the courtroom. A total of 26 defendants, including Alaattin Köseler, presented their defense statements during the hearing.
ARREST REQUESTAfter the defendants and lawyers completed their defense statements, the prosecutor of the hearing announced his opinion and requested that the detention of defendants Alaattin Köseler, Veli Gümüş, Serdar Karahan, Havva Dindar and Uğur İnci be continued, while the defendant Yıldız Güneş, who was not in custody, be arrested.
'THIS CASE IS NOT POLITICAL'Asked for his defense against the opinion, Alaattin Köseler said, "The municipality was not inspected at all between 2012 and 2022. However, an inspection was made between 2022 and 2024. This case is not political. I emphasize this. This case has nothing to do with the current government. So many people are here, and it has nothing to do with them either. The details he stated regarding Fidan Gül are tactically correct. I couldn't have appointed her deputy mayor directly to Beykoz Municipality. I needed to see her eat her yogurt. First, I gave her the directorship. I received calls from within the party saying, 'If she doesn't become deputy mayor,' but I didn't do it. I saw her eat her yogurt and then I did it."
ALL DEFENDANTS RELEASEDAfter hearing all the defenses, the court ruled to release all the defendants currently in custody, including Alaattin Köseler. The hearing was adjourned.
