16 million blood money offer to families in İliç disaster!

Nine workers lost their lives in a disaster at a mine operated by Anagold Mining in the İliç district of Erzincan. A striking allegation was made in court.
According to Now News, the family of Uğur Yıldız, who died in the disaster, said they were offered money by the company to stay silent. Executives allegedly offered the family millions in compensation on the condition that they drop their complaints and never speak out again.
"FAMILY SUPPORT ASSISTANCE"
The scandal was alleged during the third hearing of the case. The family rejected a 16 million lira offer under the guise of "family support assistance" made a year before the trial began.
Uğur Yıldız's family said that different amounts of money were offered to each family. The articles of the agreement included that the families who agreed would drop the lawsuit, could not file another lawsuit and could not talk about the negotiation process.
Explaining the situation, the family said, "Will my child come back? If I cannot defend my child's rights, that money will be a waste of my life."
The fourth hearing of the case will be held on November 11, 2025.
