Mérignac: A solidarity swing to finance the purchase of a prosthesis for a young athlete from Talence

The Rotary Club of Mérignac organized a golf competition in Pessac to benefit the Génération Avant-Garde endowment fund, which works to improve access to sports prosthetics.
On Saturday, September 6, the Mérignac Rotary Club organized the Rotary Golf Cup, a charity competition, at the Pessac golf course. The proceeds from the event went to the Génération Avant-Garde endowment fund to purchase a prosthesis for Ludovic Jacquot of Talence.
"I've been disabled in my right arm since birth, which doesn't stop me from playing sports, but I need technical assistance for certain movements," explains the young man. "This type of prosthesis is not covered by social security or my mutual insurance company. The Rotary Club of Mérignac wanted to help someone with their golf competition, and thanks to Gwenaëlle Briard, general delegate of Génération avant-garde, I was able to get in touch with them. With their support, I will be able to equip myself properly with a prosthesis adapted to my disability and my sport."
Ludovic Jacquot is 24 years old, he is a member of US Talence athletics and plays Basque pelota as a hobby.
A check for 6,000 euros"Thanks to all the golfers present, we will be able to help Ludovic," said Rotarian Emmanuel Rabaté, who is responsible for organizing the tournament. "Thank you to all our partners for their support, to the Pessac golf team who have been hosting us for many years, and not forgetting all the Rotary and Rotarac volunteers."
Based in Bordeaux-Caudéran, Génération avant-garde has existed since 2019 and aims to finance non-reimbursed sports prostheses for amputees to rebuild their lives through sport, and to award scholarships to boost the sporting careers of young talents.
"I especially want to say a big thank you to Emmanuel Rabaté, who has been at the helm of this initiative for over twenty years," said Vincent Gay, president of the Mérignac Rotary Club. "This year, we chose to help Ludovic through Génération Avant-Garde, and we're very proud to present him with this check for €6,000. Thanks also to the hundred or so golfers present today."
The event ended with the presentation of prizes to the golfers, followed by the raffle draw.
