Saint-Jean-de-Luz Polyclinic: Emergency services to be taken over by Bayonne Hospital

"The Polyclinique Côte basque Sud (PCBS) confirms that its emergency department will continue to operate in Saint-Jean-de-Luz," the municipality wrote immediately, despite the serious threat to the survival of the facility having been hanging over it for several weeks.
At the end of June, it was announced that the establishment would not be applying for renewal of its authorization from the ARS . This was due to expire on September 15. But the staff's strike lasting several days, combined with the strong local mobilization of elected officials and citizens, convinced Health Minister Yannick Neuder to visit the site on July 25. He then sought to be reassuring: "The polyclinic's emergency department will not close." It remained to define the new operating procedures.
1.8 million euros to be distributedThe city is discussing a "partnership" with the Basque Coast Hospital Center (CHCB), which will focus on three areas: the resumption and modernization of the emergency department, the creation of a post-emergency multi-disciplinary medical service, and the regular hosting of oncology services on site two days a week. "The work will be carried out by the CHCB, with financial support from the ARS, with the objective of CHCB teams taking over by February 1, 2026," the Saint-Jean-de-Luz town hall further stated.
