The online test that reveals your hearing age in just 30 seconds

The online test that reveals your hearing age in just 30 seconds

It is estimated that more than three million people in Spain suffer from some degree of hearing loss, representing approximately 8% of the population. This figure increases with age, affecting 33% of those over 65 and up to 50% of those over 75.

It's best to see a doctor if you have any doubts about your hearing, but we can find some tools on the internet that can give us clues.

One of them is a simple YouTube video, with which we can find out our hearing age in just 30 seconds.

One of the most common types of hearing loss, presbycusis, occurs when, as a person grows older, they gradually find it difficult to hear 'high-frequency' sounds, such as the voices of women and young children.

Humans can typically hear frequencies between 20 Hz and 20,000 Hz. But these upper limits begin to decrease with age, so the average adult is much more likely to be between 15,000 and 17,000 Hz. Most people will be able to comfortably hear 8,000 Hz.

However, people over 50 may have difficulty hearing above 12,000 Hz, while people over 40 will have difficulty hearing above 15,000 Hz.

When it reaches approximately 17,000 Hz, typically only teenagers can hear these frequencies. Eargym has designed a test to determine your hearing age, starting with low frequencies up to 200 Hz and going up to 200,000 Hz.

By age 70, many people will be able to hear around 9,000 Hz, and the limit will increase to around 10,000 for those in their 60s and 70s.

At 50, the upper limit is 12,000 Hz, while at 40, it reaches 14,000 Hz. By 30, people will hear up to 15,000 Hz, while by 20, it's about 17,000 Hz. Once you reach your teens, you can hear well up to 20,000 Hz.
