Toddler dies electrocuted at fairground in southern Spain

A two-year-old girl has died and three other children have been injured by an electric shock on a fairground ride in Alquerías, Murcia.

Emergency services called to scene were unable to resuscitate the child after an hour of CPR.

The three injured, an 8-year-old girl and two boys, ages 11 and 12, were treated at the fairgrounds and taken to the hospital by their own means.

Spanish Civil Guard police are currently investigating the trampoline attraction in question, and have taken statements from employees and witnesses.

Aragón hit by flash flooding

Several municipalities in the northeastern Spanish region of Aragón are recovering from flash flooding which hit them on Friday, an all too familiar sight in Spain after last year’s devastating DANA in Valencia.

Although there were no casualties or injuries which resulted from a huge wave of water sweeping through their streets, material damages are enormous.

Azuara, Herrera de los Navarros, Villar de los Navarros and Almonacid de la Cuba are the villages which have been most destroyed by the flooding.

Crucial week for Spain’s PM as corruption scandal grows

Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez is due to hold several key meetings with his Socialist Party and other political parties holding his fragile majority together following one of the most difficult weeks of his tenure.

The Spanish premier is fighting to keep his job, as corruption allegations prompted the resignation of a close aide last week and have even led the country's Deputy PM to say that the premier's apology "is not enough".

Catalonia to ban mobile phones in secondary schools

Starting next year, the Catalan Government will ban the use of mobile phones in secondary schools (ESO in Spanish).

Catalonia will also gradually phase out the use of tablets at all stages and digital whiteboards in early childhood education during the current term.

Sixty-eight percent of teachers and school administrators in the northeastern region agree with a complete ban on cell phones in secondary school.
