The Ministry weighed 7.7 million people and measured their weight: The obesity rate drew attention.

The campaign, which ran from May 10 to July 4, 2025, aimed to raise weight awareness among citizens, and the results revealed the prevalence of weight problems in Türkiye. According to the measurements, approximately 6 percent of participants were underweight, 33 percent were of normal weight, 35 percent were overweight, and 26 percent were obese.

The data obtained revealed that men are generally overweight, while women are more likely to be obese. Participation was particularly high during the eighth week of the campaign, from June 28 to July 4, 2025. During this period, measurements were taken from 650,510 men and 763,222 women, reaching a total of 1,413,732 people in one week.

Following height and weight measurements, a total of 860,262 people classified as overweight or obese according to their body mass index were directed to primary health care institutions to receive free nutrition and physical activity counseling.

Of those referred for counseling, 466,921 were women and 393,341 were men. These services are offered based on personal preferences and aim to support individuals in adopting healthy eating habits, revising their lifestyles, and increasing physical activity.
