Hatay fire on its second day! 920 houses evacuated, hundreds of citizens evacuated

A forest fire broke out yesterday at around 16:30 in the Kırmızıburun area of ​​Çökek Yaylası in the Dörtyol district of Hatay. Many water trucks, firefighters and forest workers belonging to the Regional Directorate of Forestry were dispatched upon the notification of those who saw the flames. The teams started work to bring the fire under control.

1,870 PEOPLE WERE EVACUATED

The fire, which grew during the night due to the wind, spread to the vicinity of residential areas in the Payas district. During the extinguishing efforts, which continued for the second day, 920 houses were evacuated in 9 plateaus and 1,870 citizens were evacuated.

The work, which was carried out on land with 404 vehicles and 1,100 personnel, was restarted from the air at daybreak. While the teams' extinguishing efforts in the region continue, it was learned that the rate of spread of the fire has slowed down due to the decrease in the wind.
