Do you feel bloated after drinking coffee? It could be a caffeine allergy.

Expert Dr. Füsun Topçugil also noted that what many people mistake for an allergy may actually be caffeine sensitivity (intolerance), explaining that this condition is directly related to the rate at which caffeine is metabolized: "Caffeine sensitivity is not related to the immune system. CYP1A2, a liver enzyme in our bodies, is responsible for breaking down caffeine. Due to certain genetic factors and the aging process, this enzyme may function slower. As a result, caffeine remains in the body longer than usual, and its effects are amplified."
Symptoms of sensitivity differ from allergies:
-Severe palpitations and increased heart rate
-Excessive irritability, anxiety and restlessness
-Triggering headaches and migraines
- Upset stomach, reflux or tremors
This condition seriously reduces quality of life and can usually be prevented by reducing caffeine dose.
