The supply of cancer drugs in Jalisco advances after state purchase.

The supply of cancer medications in Jalisco has shown a significant recovery in recent weeks, driven by an increase in federal supplies and advance purchases made by the state government using its own resources. This was reported by the head of the Jalisco Health Secretariat ( SSJ ), Héctor Raúl Pérez Gómez, who emphasized that the state has managed to maintain care for adult and pediatric cancer patients.
The secretary explained that the situation has steadily improved over the last month and a half, following a period of shortages that affected the availability of several drugs. "It has improved a lot in the last month and a half or two months. The percentage of drugs we receive from the federation has been increasing, both in the number of codes and in the quantity of each of those codes, but it's still not as sufficient as we would like." , he noted.

"Fortunately, at the time, Jalisco made an investment with its own resources to provide oncology care for children and adults, which was very useful to us and continues to be very useful," he stated.
According to the secretary, the percentage of supplies from the federal government has improved from 10% to 25% in recent weeks. "My opinion is that the percentage increase we've had over the past month and a half is approximately 25%, while a month and a half ago, the supply was around 10%. The last review I made was about four days ago, and we were at a supply of oncology drugs at around 25% of what we receive from the federal government," he explained.
When including the drugs purchased directly by the state, the total supply currently reaches nearly 50%. "In addition to those we purchase from the state, we have been covering oncological pathologies," he added.

"We buy them from the states that are not affiliated with the IMSS Bienestar, and fortunately, we have a supply of around 90% there," he indicated.
Regarding oncology medications, he explained that the number of available codes is around 75%, although the volume of parts may vary depending on the delivery of each batch. "The important thing is to have as many codes as possible to resolve the pathologies you are experiencing," he commented.
In total, Jalisco manages approximately 170 codes for oncology medications, distributed among the Jalisco Cancer Institute, the Civil Hospitals of Guadalajara, and the Western General Hospital. "Yes, we have approximately 75% of the codes in use across our various centers," Pérez Gómez concluded.
