Healthcare professions, employment starts growing again: leap from 77% to 85%

Employment for healthcare professions is growing again. This is highlighted in the XXVII Annual Report of the Interuniversity Consortium AlmaLaurea of Bologna, on the profile and employment status of graduates, which was presented on June 10 at the University of Brescia in the presence of the Rector Francesco Castelli, the President of the AlmaLaurea Consortium Ivano Dionigi and the director Marina Timoteo.
For the 16,977 first-level graduates of the 22 health professions of the year 2023, compared to the 11,456 graduates who responded to the survey (67%), there is a significant increase in the share of employed people (9,710), equal to +8 percentage points, having risen to 84.8% compared to 76.8% last year.
This increase is recorded in the total of all 16 disciplinary groups in which the increase in the share of employed people is +6.1 percentage points, having risen to 44.6% compared to 38.5% last year. This increase concerns a total of 170,663 graduates, of whom 110,844 responded (64.9%), with 49,459 employed, recording an increase of 12.9 percentage points compared to the 43,817 employed people last year, when there were 153,909 graduates and 113,811 responses. All disciplinary groups are increasing, with values ranging from the minimum of +3.3 percentage points in the IT and ICT technologies sector and in the agricultural-forestry sector to the maximum of +12.6 percentage points in the legal sector.
As a result of these results, the health professions are once again confirmed as having first place overall among the various disciplinary groups.
Furthermore, the recorded increase highlights the trend towards the values recorded 17 years ago: in 2007 it was 87.0%, which today corresponds to 84.8%, with a difference of just -2 percentage points.
Employment level values are increasing compared to last year for all four areas of healthcare professions and overall the trend is equal to +8 percentage points: from 76.8% in 2022 to 84.8% in 2023.
