Amplifon combines AI with hearing care professionals' expertise

A READING RECOMMENDATION FROM ONE OF OUR PARTNER: AMPLIFON
The company has begun to invest significantly in AI, but without ever losing sight of the irreplaceable value of the specialist's role in the treatment path, because the human component remains irreplaceable.
Artificial intelligence is set to radically change all sectors of the economy, with significant applications in healthcare in particular. “AI is a horizontal enabler, as electricity was or, more recently, the personal computer,” Enrico Vita , CEO of Amplifon, an Italian company and global leader in hearing care solutions, recently stated. Amplifon itself has begun to invest significantly in AI, but without ever losing sight of the irreplaceable value of the human relationship in the care journey .
In recent weeks, the company has launched a miniaturized and rechargeable hearing aid (Ampli-Mini AI) in Europe and Oceania, powered by algorithms that can adapt to the acoustic context and improve hearing in complex environments . But Amplifon also uses AI in the diagnosis phase, as it does for the proprietary Otokiosk audiological testing system (CE and FDA certified), for the optimization of the agenda in its clinics, customer care and everything related to customer management.
However, while placing innovation among the pillars of its strategy, the company also underlines that the human component remains irreplaceable in the hearing care journey .
“The technological component,” Vita himself recalled, “is only part of what we offer our patients: the highly qualified service of our hearing aid specialists is crucial to obtaining a qualitatively excellent result.” It is the hearing aid specialists, specialists in hearing care, who accompany the patient along the entire path: from tests (offered free of charge in the approximately 20 thousand clinics of the group in the world), to the choice of the most suitable device, up to personalized adaptation, periodic follow-up and maintenance.
Amplifon has a network of over 10,000 hearing aid specialists worldwide, qualified professionals (in Italy, for example, a three-year degree is required) whose expertise is absolutely essential to help people rediscover the emotions of sounds. In Italy, the company offers scholarships every year to young students who want to become hearing aid specialists by enrolling in the degree course in Audioprosthetic Techniques.
