Raedersdorf: Blood donors celebrate 50 years of altruism

Blood transfusion centers have changed a lot since the 1950s: "Back then, donors had to go to blood transfusion centers," recalls Elisabeth Meister, president of the Raedersdorf and Surrounding Area Blood Donor Association, on the occasion of the association's ^50th anniversary. "Then mobile blood drives developed thanks to trucks, even on Sunday mornings in front of the town hall, with a quart of red wine offered with the snack. Today, blood drives take place in rooms provided by the municipalities," the president continues.
