Planned for almost a year, the School Health Conference will take place on Wednesday, May 14, to "examine how schools should structure themselves to address issues concerning student well-being." Although reports on the subject have been piling up in recent years, school health remains plagued by structural difficulties and a clear lack of attractiveness. In 2022, there were 900 school doctors, a third of whom are over 60 years old, 9,300 school nurses, including 1,800 contract staff, 3,200 social workers, and 7,000 national education psychologists. Recruitment competitions for these professions are not full. The number of vacant positions for school doctors exceeds 40%.

Yet, these healthcare professionals are facing the growing needs of more than 12 million students. Since the Covid-19 pandemic, surveys have shown a deterioration in adolescents' mental health. For example, suicide attempts have dramatically increased since 2020, particularly among young girls.
