League Against Cancer: the number one local branch in Var in terms of donations

The Sainte-Maxime/Plan-de-la-Tour local branch of the League Against Cancer is the one in the Var region that raises the most donations in a single year. At its helm for several years, Cyrille Gobino and his entire team raised the modest sum of... 75,000 euros in 2024!
This tidy sum is, above all, the result of a lot of hard work. "We organize or participate in around fifteen events. Some organizers want to associate their events with the League Against Cancer," emphasizes Cyille Gobino. The organizer and her husband Thierry also use their address book.
"Craftsmen and traders support us with the donations and we would like to take this opportunity to thank them," adds the manager . The checks for 30,400 and 4,000 euros presented at the end of the golf competition in Sainte-Maxime and the Maxime ladies raid corroborate Cyrille Gobino's comments.
These 75,000 euros are donated directly to the Var committee of the League Against Cancer. The money raised at the national level is used, in particular, for research. Last month, Raphaël Rodriguez, research director at the CNRS and laboratory head at the Institut Curie, and his team specializing in the fight against cancer succeeded in creating a molecule capable of killing cells resistant to the drugs currently used against cancer. "We tell ourselves that we're not doing all this for nothing and that all our actions have meaning, " the manager rejoices.
Creative workshops and permanent officesAt the local level, the team of volunteers is on duty at the premises, located at the corner of Rue Saint-Exupéry and Rue Théodore Botrel, on Mondays and Fridays from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Around fifteen patients are currently receiving various comfort treatments.
Workshops were set up last March. "These are creative workshops, organized during our office hours. We realize that people are speaking out more freely, they open up much more easily during their activities, " explains Cyrille Gobino. The swimming pool workshops, which are free, welcome around ten people each week.
Cyrille and Thierry Gobino still have ideas in mind to raise even more funds.
"We are indeed thinking about new projects," the well-known couple from the region of Maxime emphasizes in unison, who are meeting on Sunday, June 29, at the Beauvallon golf course for another competition at the end of which they will receive another check, hopefully with a nice sum at stake!
