Awarded a label earlier this year for the excellence of its care, the medical and addiction rehabilitation facility located at Château Walk in Haguenau is one of the last resorts for patients battling alcohol and drug addiction. In this space, away from the city, they learn abstinence and prepare for their rehabilitation.

In an outbuilding at Château Walk dedicated to art workshops, Pascal assembles small pieces of ceramic to form a mosaic bearing his daughter's name. But for the past two and a half months, the fifty-year-old has been trying to piece together the pieces of his life. He had overcome a hard drug addiction thanks to treatment in Guyana a few years earlier, met a woman, and had children. The separation has caused him to sink again, this time into alcohol.

The gesture becomes vague, his voice breaks: "I couldn't manage it emotionally anymore," he explains. If he's in treatment in Haguenau today, it's because he knew how to react and contacted organizations that guided him.
