Dijon: Eight photographic prints to improve the reception of children in hospital

Dijon: Eight photographic prints to improve the reception of children in hospital

The children's hospital at the Dijon-Bourgogne University Hospital Center welcomes The Sun is New Every Day, a work by Laurent Montaron, an artist from Eure.

Laurent Montaron won a tender in 2021 from the Ministry of Culture. He proposed a series of eight film photographs of landscapes of the Mediterranean basin, installed on each floor of the building. This approach aims to improve the stay of young patients and the reception of their loved ones.

This project is linked to "[his] childhood memories in hospitals and the apprehension that is released by looking at beautiful images" as well as to his experience with his own children by regularly discussing the reality of everyday life.

The Ministry of Culture and the DRAC are motivated to beautify public spaces and make art "accessible to a more diverse public" in places such as hospitals, as Paul Mourier, Prefect of Bourgogne Franche, emphasizes, the project must reach by choosing a "place of life and humanity."

Carole Kurzmann and Carine Legrand, as well as Florence Corsin, health executives, confide that the presence of a work of art will "lighten the hospitalization."
