A charity pétanque to help little Chloé in Gassin

A charity pétanque to help little Chloé in Gassin

Uniting for a good cause is what the people of Gassin want. Recently, meetings were held at the community café "Le Café Perché."

These gatherings were supervised by Serge Vota, current president of Rotary Golfe and Caroline Riche, founding president of the Passport club, in order to raise funds to help the parents of little Chloé, 17 months old, who suffers from Syringomyelia (fluid-filled cavity inside the spinal cord) and hemi-vertebra scoliosis (congenital malformation).

The illnesses were detected by doctor Amandine Faron.

A less invasive operation in Spain

Chloé's scoliosis surgery was performed around the age of three at Lenval Hospital by Dr. Solla, an orthopedic surgeon. Chloé is also being treated for syringomyelia by Dr. Chivoret, a neurosurgeon at Lenval.

Regarding this second operation, the girl's parents want to carry it out in Spain.

The procedure is less invasive and surgeons operate on the tailbone rather than the brain, significantly reducing pain.

A large-scale mobilization

To help the family, Rotary and Café Perché are organizing a "Pétanque Perchée" charity event. This charity competition will take place in Gassin on Saturday, May 17, at 10 a.m.

Registration will take place on the same day on the grounds located below the church (1) . In total, 32 teams will be able to compete.

Other associations are participating in this solidarity effort, including Le Coq en Fête in Cogolin and the Lions Clubs of Saint-Tropez and Ramatuelle.

"At the Lions, we have no borders," retorts Jean-Michel Martin. Generous partners are also joining this cause to cover the costs generated by these operations and care, nearly 20,000 euros, perhaps more, not reimbursed by Social Security.

Registration: 10 euros/person (no credit card required). Pre-registration at 06.86.98.64.24 or by email: [email protected]
