Vascular professor explains how he keeps his body young

Physician Martin Halle has been studying the body's blood vessels and their aging for years. He is researching the extent to which the aging process can be slowed through a healthy lifestyle.
As medical director of the Munich Center for Prevention and Sports Medicine, Martin Halle not only shares tips with his patients, but also embraces the two most important factors of exercise and healthy nutrition in his own personal life.
Halle knows: "Even short sessions produce positive effects in the body." You don't have to go to the gym every day to do good for your body, and especially your blood vessels. Even ten minutes of exercise a day can make a big difference. Martin Halle therefore cycles to work every day. To stay motivated, he regularly meets up with others to exercise together: every Tuesday with a friend, every Sunday with a running group.
When it comes to nutrition, Halle focuses on "colorful food." By this, he means colorful fruits and vegetables. Their pigments contain so-called polyphenols, which protect the endothelial cells in the blood vessels from free radicals.
