Tick-related deaths on the rise
80-year-old Mahmut Ağcabal, who was receiving treatment in Sivas with suspicion of Crimean-Congo Hemorrhagic Fever (CCHF), lost his life despite all interventions. The number of people who died as a result of tick bites in the city has risen to 5.
According to the information received, the incident occurred in the Karaçam village of the Koyulhisar district of Sivas. Mahmut Ağcabal, 80, who lives in the village and is the father of 3 children, became ill after removing a tick that stuck to his armpit approximately 10 days ago. Ağcabal, who was taken to the Koyulhisar State Hospital by his relatives, was transferred to the Cumhuriyet University Medical Faculty Hospital when his condition worsened after the first intervention.
Ağcabal, who was receiving treatment at the hospital, could not be saved despite all efforts of the doctors and lost his life. Ağcabal's body was taken to the hospital morgue, and it was learned that he would be buried in his hometown Karaçam village on the second day of Eid al-Adha. The number of people who lost their lives as a result of tick bites in the city this year has risen to 5.

According to the information received, Hacı Mehmet Eker (31) fell ill, allegedly as a result of a tick bite, in the incident that took place in Şıhbarak Neighborhood of the district. Eker, who was taken under treatment at Erciyes University Faculty of Medicine, lost his fight for life in the hospital where he had been receiving treatment for 5 days.
It was learned that Hacı Mehmet Eker, who lost his life as a result of a tick bite, had a wedding at the end of June.
