One person died due to lung plague

A statement on the issue was made on the Coconino region's website.

The statement said it was the first time since 2007 that a resident of the region had died from pneumonia, but that detailed information about that person would not be shared.

Lung plague, also known as "pneumonic plague," is known as the most lethal and least common type of plague.

The disease develops when the plague bacterium Yersinia pestis, which is found in mammals such as the mountain mouse and can be transmitted from animals to humans, attaches to the lungs and causes pneumonia.

Lung plague is transmitted from person to person through respiratory droplets.

This disease caused millions of deaths between 1346 and 1353, and although various theories were put forward about the source of the epidemic, no definitive conclusion could be reached.
