MHP's Feti Yıldız's message to Ahmet Özer: Now is the time for brotherhood

MHP Deputy Chairman Feti Yıldız made a rather striking statement. He noted that CHP Esenyurt Mayor Prof. Dr. Ahmet Özer, who was arrested on October 30, 2024, citing the City Consensus and replaced by a trustee, had stated to a parliamentary commission that 900 of the thousand-year-long unity between Turks and Kurds occurred during the Ottoman period, and that this was true.

Yıldız stated that the solidarity between Turks and Kurds has intersected many times throughout history, and noted that Ahmet Özer evaluated these intersections within the last 20 years, and that they had six intersection points:

Yıldız, stating that the unity of Kurds and Turks in history took place in Malazgirt, added that now is the time for brotherhood:

Prof. Dr. Ahmet Özer, while explaining the historical perspective in the Commission established in the Parliament, said that 900 of the 1000-year-old togetherness of Turks and Kurds belonged to the Ottoman Turkish State period, and he was right… There were more than 60 states under the sovereignty of the Ottoman Turkish State. Actually, it ruled 45 states. 27 of these 45 states were in Asia, 13 in Europe and 5 in the African continent. Since the professor counts the last 20 years we have lived in as a period, he increases the number to 7. In our opinion, there are 6 important intersections in history. 1) Manzikert: Alp Arslan-Mervanids 2) Çaldıran: Yavuz Sultan Selim-İdris and Bitlis 3) Cizira-Botan: II. Mahmut/Abdulmecit-Bedirhan Bey 4) Erzincan: Abdulhamid II-Hamidiye Regiments 5) Erzurum: Mustafa Kemal and the period of rebellions. 6) Erbil/Hewler: Özal-Barzani, Talabani. The first time Kurds and Turks met in history was at Manzikert. Before waging war against the Byzantine Emperor Romanus Diogenes, the Seljuk Sultan Alpaslan Gazi sent his famous vizier, the great statesman Nizamülmülk, to the Mervani Kurdish Bey Nizamettin, living in the Silvan district, and received aid.
