He received asthma treatment for 1.5 years! He was shocked when he learned the truth!

50-year-old I.U. went for implant measurements after tooth extraction in October 2023. I.U. unknowingly swallowed the silicone applied for the measurement. After a while, I.U. went to the hospital with complaints of shortness of breath and cough and was diagnosed with asthma.
After receiving treatment after being diagnosed with asthma for 1.5 years, I.U. came to Prof. Dr. Abdurrahman Şenyiğit and the tests showed a completely different truth. In the tomography and bronchoscopy procedures, it was determined that the substance that settled in the lungs was swallowed silicone. It was stated that with the removal of the silicone, the patient's complaints disappeared according to his description.
Dicle University Faculty of Medicine Chest Diseases Lecturer Prof. Dr. Abdurrahman Şenyiğit told İHA correspondent that the patient went for implant treatment after tooth extraction, that there was a silicone dental impression material used in implant treatment and that this material was used on the patient. Stating that the patient could feel the material entering the lungs but it was not noticed, Prof. Şenyiğit said that the material remained in the lungs.
Şenyiğit, referring to the fact that the substance took on the characteristics of the lung structure over time and remained there as a foreign substance, said, "Unfortunately, our patient had been diagnosed with asthma for 2 years and was given continuous treatment. When the patient came to us, we saw a suspicious lesion in the distal part of the right lung main bronchus in the tomography. We determined that the foreign substance was silicone in the bronchoscopy we performed. After removing it, the patient felt relief."
Prof. Şenyiğit, who noted that care should be taken when dental measurements are made with silicone, said, "This soft material can get into the lungs. This may not show itself for a long time as it takes the bronchial structure over time. In such cases, when there is shortness of breath and cough, it is absolutely necessary to be careful. It was removed yesterday and the patient describes that he has not coughed since yesterday. 24 hours have just passed. The patient describes that he is relieved."
