A new era begins in family medicine

A new era begins in family medicine

Under the new regulation, contracted healthcare professionals serving as family physicians will be able to receive specialist training without a central placement, provided they meet certain requirements. The goal is to increase the number of physicians in the system through field family medicine specialization and improve the efficiency of healthcare services.

SPECIALTY TRAINING CAN BE ENTERED WITHOUT CENTRALIZED LOCATION

Until January 1, 2025, those working as contracted family physicians under the relevant law will be able to receive family medicine specialty training based on their Medical Specialization Examination (TUS) results and in accordance with the principles established by the Medical Specialization Board. Central placement is not required during this period.

The training period will generally be at least six years, either remotely or part-time. However, this period can be reduced to four years for those who have worked as a family physician for at least five years before starting training.

THERE WILL BE NO ADDITIONAL PAYMENTS OTHER THAN SALARY DURING THE TRAINING PERIOD

Contracted family physicians who are undergoing specialist training will not be eligible for any additional income from the revolving fund, other than a motivational payment. This aims to maintain the fair compensation structure within the system.

TITLE CHANGE IN HEALTH VOCATIONAL HIGH SCHOOL

The law also changes some job titles in health vocational high schools. The "nurse assistant" and "midwife assistant" titles will be abolished, and their post-graduation status will be combined under the umbrella of "health care technician." Additionally, new programs suitable for admitting students under the title of "dental prosthesis technician" will be established.
