The National Federation of Doctors (FNAM) will meet next week, on the 28th, with the Directorate-General for Employment and Labor Relations (DGERT), in Porto. The meeting will focus on the negotiation of the collective labor agreement.
The meeting takes place following the Ministry of Health's refusal to meet with the federation, thus failing to comply with collective bargaining procedures, a situation that led FNAM to send a letter to DGERT.
In a statement, FNAM reveals that it also sent letters to the Prime Minister and the President of the Republic, with a view to “restoring legality”.
After the meeting on February 1st, the FNAM national council will meet in Porto to “analyze the paths opened by this route in the negotiation process and the unstable situation in the SNS”.
According to the federation, during this meeting, the agenda will be the “incompetence of the Ministry of Health in managing the NHS and the failure to increase the number of doctors and other health professionals”. In addition to these issues, the FNAM highlights that new forms of struggle may be on the table.
