The Children's Helpline 800 12 12 12 and the aforementioned internet chat are spaces where children and young people can feel safe and talk about their problems without fear of being judged. Consultants of the Children's Helpline are often the first people children turn to for help. Their words matter, and their involvement is crucial for young people who need support. It is worth emphasizing that the Children's Helpline RPD is anonymous and free of charge.

Among the problems raised by children contacting DTZ, a feeling of loneliness and being unimportant to parents, acquaintances and friends was often mentioned. There was also talk of a lack of attention from parents to the difficulties experienced by children and the emotions they experienced. Another reported problem was the resistance from parents to referring the child to a specialist, such as a psychologist or psychiatrist.

Not only family relationships were a source of difficulties; school, as the environment in which young people functioned, also generated problems. Children reported to the experts of the helpline violence they experienced from both students and teachers. Among the topics discussed was also the lack of acceptance of one's own appearance, which was sometimes associated with eating disorders.
