Herpes zoster: can you get vaccinated just one month after infection?

Herpes zoster: can you get vaccinated just one month after infection?

My son, 30 years old, was affected by shingles last month. Is it enough to wait almost a month before the vaccination, or is it better to wait more time?

Dear reader,

Even if your child is young, since the new vaccine protects against recurrences and in case there is some immune deficiency due to which shingles tends to occur frequently, vaccination can be done.

However, a month is not enough, it is recommended to wait at least a couple of months and it would be better to let a year pass, so as to have the maximum effectiveness of the vaccination. This time is to be understood from the disappearance of the symptoms and not from the beginning of the disease.
