Heatwaves start to the week on the rise. Orange warning expected today in 7 cities : Bologna, Bolzano, Brescia, Campobasso, Florence, Perugia and Turin. The alert is level 2 and indicates weather conditions that may represent a health risk for children, the elderly and the frail.

"Heat waves - we read on the website of the Ministry of Health - occur when very high temperatures are recorded for several consecutive days, often associated with high humidity, strong solar radiation and lack of ventilation. These climatic conditions can represent a risk to the health of the population".

Due to the absence of significant foreseeable phenomena, there is no weather alert issued by the Civil Protection for today.

Number 1500 active for advice to citizens

Meanwhile, the anti-heat number 1500 has returned, the public utility service managed by the Ministry of Health in synergy with Inail, to provide information to citizens on how to protect themselves from the heat. The number 1500 is free and operators will answer from Monday to Friday, from 9 am to 5 pm.

The 1500 - explains the Lungotevere Ripa department - offers useful advice for the prevention of the effects of heat on health, with particular reference to the most fragile people; orientation to services in the territory activated by the Regions and Municipalities; information for the protection of the health of workers engaged in outdoor activities to reduce the risks from sun exposure; medical health counseling through the collaboration of the health managers of the Ministry of Health.

The number 1500 is in addition to the activities already implemented by the Ministry of Health with the Summer Hot Plan 2025, operational since the end of May, a note recalls. From Monday to Friday, until mid-September, you can consult the bulletins on heat waves on the ministry website. The Hot Plan, like every year, uses the daily mortality surveillance system and the emergency room access surveillance system that allow for the timely identification of health emergency situations and the activation of prevention interventions on the population. The decalogue for protecting yourself from heat waves can also be consulted on the ministry website.
