Foggia Local Health Authority (ASL) is conducting cancer screenings in prison: Mammomobile and Papmobile in the prison courtyard.

Cancer prevention for women in prison to ensure the right to healthcare. To this end, the Foggia Local Health Authority is organizing a screening session for breast and cervical cancer at the Foggia Prison on November 10th.
MAMMOBILE AND PAPMOBILE
The initiative, promoted by the Foggia Social Health District (DSS) in collaboration with the Corporate Screening Operations Center and agreed upon with the prison management, is part of a prevention project for the early diagnosis of female oncological diseases.
On board the two mobile vehicles of ASL Foggia, the Mammomobile and the From 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., female inmates will be able to undergo free screening tests at the Papmobile. The initiative is also open to female Penitentiary Police officers and administrative staff working at the Via delle Casermette prison.

"The project underscores the value of collaboration between the Local Health Authority (ASL) and the penitentiary institution as an indispensable tool for implementing the right to healthcare, which our Constitution, in Article 32, recognizes as a fundamental right of the individual and a public interest," stated Antonio Nigri, General Director of the Foggia Local Health Authority (ASL). "Only through synergistic action ," he emphasized , " is it possible to overcome logistical and social barriers and ensure healthcare provision for detainees as well."
"With this initiative," adds Cinzia Piccaluga, director of the Foggia Local Health District, "the Foggia Local Health Authority intends to affirm that the right to care and prevention belongs to everyone, even those experiencing vulnerability or limited freedom. Our commitment is to bring public healthcare ever closer to the people, to reach everyone, everywhere."
“With the Mammomobile and the Papmobile – says Luigi Esposto, director responsible for Penitentiary Psychiatry and Offenders – public health physically enters places of detention to ensure equal opportunities of access to health services, in line with the principles of equity and inclusion that inspire the National Health Service”.

"Healthcare," continues Antonio Lacerenza , director of the Maternal and Child Health Unit at the Foggia Local Health Authority, "is a universal right, to which there can be no barriers or exclusions. Public healthcare must never leave anyone behind. Only inclusive healthcare, capable of listening to and reaching every person, can truly be considered fair."
"Adherence to cancer screening," says Carmela Totaro, head physician of the Departmental Senology Unit at the Foggia Local Health Authority, "is essential for reducing mortality and improving quality of life, because the tests allow for early detection of potential pathologies and ensure timely and appropriate treatment."
