Saint-Louis Agglomeration. Health: It's still the technical platform that's stuck

Saint-Louis Agglomeration elected officials are reacting following the visit by the ARS director and a press release issued by the latter. They regret the gap between the official vision and the reality on the ground and still want the return of a technical platform to the Saint-Louis hospital, to make at least minor surgical procedures possible. On May 27, Christelle Ratignier-Carbonneil, Director General of the Regional Health Agency, visited the border region to meet with elected officials who have long been calling for more resources for the Saint-Louis hospital.

The Saint-Louis hospital is labeled "local," which, SLA elected officials explain, de facto excludes the presence of a technical platform necessary for operating - a platform that they consider necessary for the proper functioning of the hospital and the networking of the territory by specialties. In a press release, the ARS states that, since 2023, this hospital "has been on the path to sustainable consolidation, with a range of care in line with the needs of the local population, an essential step for access to care for our fellow citizens", with a detailed list of progress (read our box).

Jean-Marc Deichtmann “more than surprised”

Jean-Marc Deichtmann, president of Saint-Louis Agglomération (whose community council voted on motions for the hospital ), said he was "more than surprised by the text. It does not correspond to what the director general of the ARS told us. With this glowing press release, one wonders why we are worried!"
