  • Monday, August 25. A fire broke out early this Monday, August 25, at the Sydeme sorting center in Sainte-Fontaine, between Freyming-Merlebach and Saint-Avold. More than 45 firefighters were mobilized to bring the fire under control. Photo Jonathan Breuer
  • Tuesday, August 26. A privately-sponsored health center has taken off in the former Pôle Emploi premises on Place Fischart in Forbach. Several medical and paramedical specialties are already offered, as well as alternative medicine consultations and yoga classes. Daniel Schmitt, a former employee of the Houillères du bassin de Lorraine, believes that the contract for the purchase of his benefits in kind by his former employer is the subject of forgery. This retiree from Freyming-Merlebach used a graphologist to demonstrate that the date of signature of the contract was changed without his knowledge.   • Thursday, August 28. Suspended for four months with loss of pay for refusing to be vaccinated against Covid in 2021, a medical secretary from Morsbach, near Forbach, has won a ruling against her employer, the National Health Insurance Fund (CNAM). The industrial tribunal judges and the Metz Court of Appeal ruled that the employee, who was working 100% remotely, was not required to be vaccinated.

  • Saturday, August 30. The Marina D'Amico & Co. Music and Arts School held an open house this Saturday at its premises behind the Forbach Theater. New enrollments were recorded. The school is known for its singing classes. But the range of teaching has expanded considerably to include various musical and theater specialties.
