Meurthe-et-Moselle. Shaken Baby Syndrome: An Act of Abuse Still Silent
Every year in France, hundreds of children are affected by shaken baby syndrome (SBS). Defined as a group of non-accidental head injuries, one in ten children dies from it. The others will suffer lifelong after-effects. This act of abuse, still rarely discussed, is punishable by the law. A mother from Flavigny-sur-Moselle, near Nancy, shares her story.
As part of Mother's Day, Justine Thaize, a florist in Flavigny-sur-Moselle, has partnered with the Nancy regional maternity ward (see opposite). This is an opportunity to discuss shaken baby syndrome, which the family experienced on November 22, 2022.
