Dordogne's third most populated city launches a municipal mutual insurance company

Six mutual insurance companies applied to the call for projects launched by the communist municipality, which had drawn up very precise specifications, heavily influenced by social measures: no medical questionnaire, no age limit, no income conditions, rates that no longer change after the age of 70, a review of the situation in the event of financial difficulties... The only condition: residency in Boulazac. "We looked for the best rates, but also good services," adds Fanny Castaignede.
The lucky winner is called Mutami. A sixty-year-old mutual insurance company, whose national headquarters are in Toulouse but which has an agency in Sanilhac (1). Its development director, Olivier Bedmar, came to explain how it works.

Cancellation of current mutual insurance, coverage in case of treatment abroad, possibility of remaining a member if one leaves Boulazac… The manager answered questions, while advising those interested to go to the offices organized at the Maison France Services in Boulazac (at the Agora, Tuesdays July 15 [it's full], 22 and 29, from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and from 1:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m., by appointment at 09 77 42 55 25. Other offices will take place in September). "We have an approach based on advice and social support," assures Olivier Bedmar, who points out that more than 2.5 million French people do not have mutual insurance. "And it's not a choice."
“If the future mayor comes from the current municipal council, please note that the resolution was passed unanimously.”
One participant apologized for asking what would happen if there were a change of mayor in 2026... Fanny Castaignede smiled: "If the future mayor comes from the current municipal council, you should know that the resolution was passed unanimously. And in any case, the agreement is signed for three years, renewable once tacitly."
