Spain fines a company €5,000 for calling number on no-spam list
The Spanish Data Protection Agency (AEPD) has imposed a €5,000 fine on Adverbis Spain, SL, a company dedicated to the marketing and sale of online advertising, for violating regulations on unwanted commercial calls.
The number was signed up to the Robinson List (Lista Robinson), which is a free advertising exclusion service, available to consumers, which aims to reduce the amount of advertising and unsolicited calls they receive.
The case dates back to July 2023, when the affected party filed a complaint with the AEPD. According to their complaint, they received an automated call from a number linked to Adverbis. They specifically requested that such calls be stopped and proved that they were already on the Robinson List.
"If the unwanted call received is of a commercial nature (automatic or not), it requires prior consent, and the burden of proof of granting the necessary consent falls on the controller. An unwanted call therefore constitutes a violation of Article 66.1 of the General Telecommunications Law" states the AEPD.

Sunday's lunar eclipse was overshadowed by cloud in much of Spain
The lunar eclipse in Spain occurred on Sunday September 7th when the Earth's shadow covered the Moon. This gives the Moon a reddish hue, giving rise to the popular nickname 'Blood Moon. The total event lasted from 7:31 p.m. to 8:53 p.m. In much of Spain, however, the Moon rose already eclipsed by the horizon and clouds covered covered most of it.
The final phase of totality was visible in most regions of eastern mainland Spain and the Mediterranean islands, but those in the Canary Islands and western Galicia could only see it once the shadow had already passed. In other western provinces such as Huelva and Cádiz, the eclipse was only visible for a few minutes before clearing again.
Spain's Alcaraz outshines rival Sinner to win second US Open
Spaniard Carlos Alcaraz beat Italian Jannik Sinner in four sets on Sunday to win the US Open and reassert his dominance of an era-defining rivalry in a final delayed by the visit of President Donald Trump.
The 22-year-old Alcaraz won 6-2, 3-6, 6-1, 6-4 to capture his second US Open crown and sixth Grand Slam title, avenging his lone defeat in a major final by Sinner at Wimbledon in July.
"It's a great feeling. I'm working really hard just to lift this trophy. It's my second one but it's still a dream come true," said Alcaraz.
Alcaraz will reclaim the world number one ranking from Sinner, returning to top spot on Monday for the first time since September 2023 after ending the Italian's 27-match winning run at hard-court Grand Slams.
"It was one of the first goals that I had, to recover the number one (ranking)," said Alcaraz, who also defeated Sinner in an epic French Open final in June.
