IMSS-Bienestar: Health Routes Launch in 23 States

This Tuesday, the IMSS-Bienestar Health Routes began in the 23 states included in this organization, and this guarantees 100% supply of medicines with medicine packages.

At the morning press conference, a meeting was held with the 23 governors, who expressed their gratitude for the Health Routes, which consist of vehicles and dedicated routes so that each unit can receive the necessary medical supplies on a scheduled basis.

Alejandro Svarch, head of IMSS-Bienestar, indicated that this is the "most important" and "transcendent" strategy in terms of supply, in conjunction with the Ministry of Health and Birmex.

He emphasized that this is a network that connects the warehouses with each of the health centers: "This strategy represents much more than a distribution model; it is the guarantee that every doctor has what they need and that every patient finds what they need during their medical consultation."

"The routes are part of the IMSS-Bienestar primary care model, where each health center in each community and neighborhood can prioritize the patient and their nearest doctor through prepared and organized kits.

"We will cover 100% of the supply each month, eliminating administrative and logistical barriers that were dividing supplies and limiting access to essential medications such as hypoglycemic agents, analgesics, and antihypertensives. Previously, they were sent in installments; now they are sent in a logistics package that contains all the medications required by each health center for a month. Svarch explained.

He mentioned that these packages will be supplied "on a recurring basis" each month.

The size of this package depends on the size of the clinic, ensuring a complete and continuous supply to the more than eight thousand IMSS-Bienestar medical units, he said.

In the last week, dedicated teams at each of the state warehouses prepared and packed more than 15 million pieces of medicines. and medical supplies to be delivered to the units.

Between this Tuesday and next Saturday, August 23, health route vehicles will travel across 23 states, and with the logistical support and operational capacity of Birmex, will deliver more than 10,000 packages so that each primary care unit has the supplies it needs.
